Dear Narendra Modi,
Modi Ji, When I started understanding the ABC of politics and the way it functions there were very few politicians I admired. But you have been my favourite Prime Minister since day 1. Your charismatic personality and aura is something that inspires young minds all over the world. However, apart from all the good things you have done there is something which needs your immediate attention . Crimes against the FEMALE COMMUNITY (from a new born baby to an old woman over the age of 60) in India. This includes sexual harassment, cyber crime, emotional abuse, molestation, rapes and the list goes on. Sir, I have some questions : What action has the government taken to stop these crimes ? When can girls feel safe in the night and even in the day? There isn't even a single day when I have picked up a newspaper or turned on a TV news channel and haven't seen any crime stories against women. I feel very disappointed to witness such things in a country where women and girls have always been dignified and respected. My own story is a horrific example of the audacity to which such sick minded people can go. I was 11 years old, an innocent GIRL child at a very crowded market with my aunt. She was buying some jewellery and I was standing beside her. I wasn't aware of anything that could happen to me there, and a man came and touched me on a place he should not have for 3-4 minutes, I remember. After coming back to home, the only question that troubled my mind was: What was that ? Was it something to worry about or is it a normal act of showing love towards a cute child ? What else could you expect from an 11 year old ? Gradually, I understood that it was molestation. And, Later when I shared this experience with my parents they never allow me to go to that market again. There are many such stories of women and girls around me and I am speaking up for all of them. But as the Prime Minister of our country, do you think that avoiding to go to certain places, coming back home before 7pm are the real solutions of the problem? A crime takes place , strikes happen, voices get raised , days pass by and everything gets back to normal. The only people who suffer in this process is the victim and her family members. I feel worried about my 5 year old niece, should she play alone at her friends house ? It is terrible that children cannot even play freely outside their house. Sir, your policies and actions have always been a breath of fresh air. We need you to do something strong and powerful for the female community. We do not want to hear that Delhi is the rape capital of India. We do not want foreigners to say that they feel unsafe travelling alone in India. We want the true values of India to manifest and we believe that only you can do this. As a young Indian women I want to feel safe and respected at home and in public. Not fearful, vulnerable and hesitant from the people who lack basic level of humanity. This is my right and I deserve it. And to fully enjoy my right Sir, I kindly request you to support us and show the entire country that the one who commits crimes against the female community deserves nothing but immediate castration and DEATH. Yours Sincerely Atmika Dubey
